Prerequisite/Corequisite: Courses NU 571 , NU 572 , and NU 573 should be completed with this practicum course or taken prior to this course.
The course explores the multifaceted role of the nurse educator, focusing on competencies essential for effective leadership and advocacy in nursing education. Students will learn to function as change agents and leaders, integrating innovative and creative perspectives, participating in interdisciplinary efforts, and implementing strategies for organizational change. Emphasis is placed on continuous quality improvement through lifelong learning, professional development, and balancing teaching, scholarship, and service. Students will examine the educational environment, understanding how political, social, economic, and institutional forces impact nursing education. Through developing leadership skills, building professional networks, and advocating for nursing in the political arena, students will be prepared to make significant contributions to the academic community and nursing education.
