In order for MUW to recommend licensure, ALL required professional education courses must be taken at MUW. Repeat Coursework:
Starting August 2020, undergraduate education students may repeat any education or core required course once. Students who do not meet the minimum grade requirements after two attempts will no longer be eligible to continue in their program, based on each program’s standards. This policy applies to all current and new students in the Early Childhood Education (BS), elementary Education (BS, and the former Early Childhood Development (BS) majors. Re-Admission:
Undergraduate education students must retake any MUW education curses with an ED prefix if it was completed more than five years before the most recent MUW Undergraduate Bulletin. Concentrations:
In addition to the requirements listed above, students must complete one are of concentration by successfully earning at least 18 semester hours, with a minimum grade of ‘C’ in each course. Available concentrations are: English, general science, mathematics, and social studies. Note:

Licensure is offered in the following special subject areas: B.M. in Music Education, B.A. in Spanish, and B.A .in Theatre Education, all with teacher certification requirements. For specific degree requirements, consult the section of the catalog for the Music, Spanish, and Theatre programs. Enlight Core Curriculum - Secondary Subject Areas (Grades 7-12):
Licensure at the secondary level is offered for Biology, Physical Science, Mathematics, English, and Social Studies. For specific degree requirements, consult the section of the catalog for the specific departments associated with each discipline. Total Degree hours required = 120 semester hours
