This introductory course covers the principles of early childhood education (birth to age 8), exploring contemporary approaches, historical contexts, and theoretical foundations. Students will learn about physical, social, and cognitive development and apply developmentally appropriate practices. Key topics include adapting to individual differences, embracing diversity, building family partnerships, and planning engaging curricula. The course emphasizes creating equitable learning communities and understanding the interrelationship between home, community, and child development.
Note: This course requires five (5) hours of field experience; no exemptions will be granted.
