NU 360 - Introduction to Scholarly Activity for the Professional Nurse

Prerequisite: 1. Admission to the RN/BSN Advanced Placement Option for the regular student 2. For the Associate Degree Nursing Student, acceptance as a “Dual Enrollment” Student

This course supports the registered nurse’s transition into the baccalaureate nursing curriculum by building upon prior education and clinical experience. Guided by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials for Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice and the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Professional Nursing Practice, the course prepares students for upper-division coursework by introducing key concepts essential to professional nursing. Emphasis is placed on scholarly writing, information management, evidence-based practice, nursing research, and nursing theory. Students will enhance their ability to locate, evaluate, and apply information from diverse sources, laying the foundation for success in the senior year of the program and beyond.
