Speech-Language Pathology Major, BS

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Bill & Jo-Ann Vandergriff College of Nursing and Health Sciences

The Speech-Language Pathology Program requires a scientific knowledge base for good decision making skills. Students are required to earn at least a C in all courses in the major area, in English Composition (EN 101  and EN 102 ), and in all mathematics and science courses. A course may only be repeated once to improve the grade. See “Academic Program Requirements ” for further information concerning Enlight Core Curriculum   and general degree requirements.

The undergraduate program in speech-language pathology is considered pre-professional: that is, a student must complete a master’s degree program and certain other requirements to be qualified for independent professional practice in any setting.

Progression Policy:

All students must earn a grade of C in each Speech-Language Pathology course.  If a grade lower than C is earned in any class that is a prerequisite for another class, the student will be prohibited from enrolling in the higher level SLP class. Students may repeat a maximum of two Speech-Language Pathology courses in which they earned lower than a grade of C. A course in Speech-Language Pathology may be repeated only once.  If a student does not earn a grade of C or better in the course when it is repeated, the student may not progress in the program. Students are required to have a 2.75 or above GPA to register and take 300 level classes in the Speech-Language Pathology major.
