Add-On Endorsements

Individuals who possess a teaching license may add the institutional endorsement listed below by completing the appropriate program of study. For institutional endorsement add-ons, all courses must be taken at MUW and no course substitutions are allowed. These programs remain in continous review by the Mississippi Department of Education and may change prior to the printing of the next catalog.

Endorsement 221: Special Education (Mild/Moderately Disabled (Grades K-12):

• ED 306 - Introduction to Special Education
• ED 323 - Education of the Student with Disabilities
• ED 324 - Teaching in the Inclusion Classroom
• ED 390 - Classroom Management and Student Accommodations and Interventions

  This add-on endorsement is approved for the B.S. in Elementary Education program and does require a passing score on the Mississippi Department of Education’s Foundations of Reading Exam. Undergraduate teacher education majors in secondary/K-12 programs may be approved for this add-on endorsement after completing a Secondary or K12 teacher education program at Mississippi University for Women, completing the 12 semester hours listed above and providing evidence of passing the MDE Foundations of Reading Exam.
