NU 426 - Nursing Therapeutic Interventions: Dimensions of Community Practice I: Care of Groups, Aggregates and CommunitiesCredits: 4
Theory (3) 45 contact hours; Laboratory (1) 30 laboratory hours.
Prerequisite: NU 300 , NU 301 , NU 325 , NU 328 , NU 329 , NU 330 , NU 350 , NU 351 , NU 352 , NU 355 , NU 357 . Concurrent enrollment: NU 425 , NU 428 , NU 429 , NU 430 .
The course is designed to provide students with opportunities to expand their nursing knowledge and therapeutic skills for developing partnerships with families, aggregates, and communities that are experiencing actual or potential stressors. Emphasis is placed on measures that promote health, prevent disease, and protect at-risk families and populations, the role of the nurse, interrelatedness of health care systems with the environment, lifestyle factors, and the process of effecting change for the purpose of health care improvements through partnerships developer in the community. Experiences are designed to enhance primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies that are community-oriented and population-focused in the acute care setting. This course is grounded in the AACN’s The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education and the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Professional Nursing Practices, ensuring alignment with contemporary professional standards and competencies for nursing practice.
