BSB 171 - Biology ICredits: 4
An introductory course covering fundamental introductory biological concepts and scientific reasoning by immersing students in hypothesis-driven research. Specific biological concepts introduced included cell and molecular biology, virology, ecology, evolution, and biotechnology. The laboratory portion of the course is a semester-long independent project in which students will isolate, culture, and identify a bacterial virus (bacteriophage) they have collected from local soil. The lab meets twice a week.
