ED 306 - Introduction to Special EducationCredits: 3
Prerequisite: ED 200 for all education majors Prerequisite/Corequisite: ED 200 and ED 302 for all education majors, ED 311 elementary education majors
This course includes concepts, perspectives, and guiding principles that are basic to an understanding of human exceptionality and diversity, with an emphasis on Special Education. Areas explored will be state and federal law, referral to placement, use of cumulative records, Individual Education Plan development, and the education of students with learning disabilities.
Note: Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education majors: Minimum grade of C is required for this course. This course can only be taken twice.
Field Experience: 10 hours for secondary (Grades 7-12) and K-12 majors; Co-requisite of ED 311 for elementary education majors. This course can only be taken twice and have a minimum grade of C.
